Hi I’m Jess! Based in Tempe, Arizona, I'm in my late twenties with my best friend / husband, Cameron. He is my second shooter and he is great. We love God, and we are only able to love the crap out of people because God loves the crap out of us. We're musical, whimsical, and really into ice cream + Trader Joe's. In 2021 I will have first shot 100 weddings, which is a HUGE milestone that I’m very excited to hit.
I have a huge background and heartbeat for visual story telling. When I’m not shooting weddings, branding shoots, etc. I’m working for my church as their Social Media Specialist. From photos to writing to design to video work, it’s such a fun job where I get to use all my talents.
HOW I FELL FOR PHOTOGRAPHY:
My journey with photography started in the Sierras while on "another” fishing trip with my family back in 2007. We would get up at 3am to go to some obscure small lake to be there when the fish wake up and are hungry. I actually loved every minute of it, but when you’re 14 any opportunity to eye-roll at your parents is taken (sorry guys). So naturally I was complaining about being bored, which is when my dad told me to grab my mom’s camera and take some pictures… A light came on in me. I was hooked. Photographing nature, the beauty, the details that someone else might miss — it was exciting. I’ve always been interested in art, but that day I finally found my place in it all. There was one photo in particular too and my parents’ loved it. With their encouragement, the next 8 years I tried to photograph anything I could.
Fast forward to present day, I have a degree in photojournalism and I’ve been a wedding photographer since 2013. My camera is truly an extension of my arm. I think the best days of my life include a camera in my hand — including when Cameron proposed! Professionally, I’ve been working full time as a freelancing photographer and writer since 2015, with experience working for over 16 different publications. We’ve been in 4 National Parks with couples. We are always looking for sunset moments on mountain tops.
Getting to run a business with my husband has been such a sweet sweet blessing from above. I can’t believe my best friend and spouse is also really really good at photographing people relationally. It’s such a sweet gift to me to get to do this with him. We’re better together! And we love rooting for our clients in their marriage and life.
WHAT MAKES US DIFFERENT FROM OTHER PHOTOGRAPHERS:
Cameron and I have an artistic documentarian style to our assignments whether it’s an event for nonprofit or a cherished wedding day. We also joke that we’re professional double daters. We take great joy in taking steps ahead of the big event to make sure you’re comfortable with us so we can be a fly on the wall during your authentic moments. We search for emotions. We love relationships. We shoot with our whole hearts. I literally cry at every Father Daughter dance, and sometimes the Mother Son ones as well. We take time to learn who and what you care about so when you get your wedding it is full of moments and details that are meaningful to you!
We are actively trying to not make your moments about us — that may sound weird, but it’s true. Photographers can come into your big day with an agenda for what they want for their portfolios and after doing this for 7 years, I’ve learned that the best images are the ones that captivate your heart, bring YOU to tears, and remind you of all the feels you had in that moment that we captured.
We’re 100% sold out on making your event, wedding, or portrait session 100% about you. The heart behind our craft is that you have a friend rooting for you on the other side of that camera. This implies we’ll look out for your VIPs, your insecurities, your quiet tearful moments, and your big laughs — and you can bet that we’re crying or laughing alongside with you.
If you're ready to jump all in, or want to meet me at a favorite coffee shop, let's do it. Let's see how we can make some photo magic and show the world how you see your relationship and moments.
